What is the PTO and what are it’s goals?
The Baudhuin PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a strong parent-organized and parent-led group. The PTO works closely with Baudhuin staff to plan Baudhuin-related special events and raise funds for the preschool. The PTO meets monthly to promote school programs, support and encourage teachers and staff, facilitate events and conduct fundraising to achieve
those ends. Volunteer opportunities are plentiful, including serving as
committee chairpersons. Watch this site for updated School Information and PTO activities and volunteer needs. The Family Support Services Coordinator serves as
the liaison between the PTO and the school."
How can you join the Baudhuin PTO?
Every parent of a student at Baudhuin is automatically a voting member of our PTO. There are no dues for membership. We derive all of the capital for the exciting programs, services and events we plan each year solely from fundraising. Therefore, in order to make our year a success we need all the help we can get. Additionally, if you have new ideas or don’t like something that is happening with either the PTO or in the school, the PTO is a great forum to talk about things. We always have time for open discussion at the end of the meetings.
Where does the fundraising money go?
The PTO raises money each year and generally only a handful of people decide how it is spent. Many traditional Baudhuin events are planned throughout the year. However, the design of these events is up to those willing to get involved. This is where we parents are needed most. The PTO also raises moneys for supplemental equipment and materials needed to help enrich the classrooms and school, that otherwise might not be funded. This is our gift to the school for all the great work they do for our children.
Come to a meeting to help decide what the money is spent on.
What are the pick up and drop off procedures?
The Baudhuin school doors open for drop off from 7:45AM to 8:00 AM. During this time you can walk your child to his or her classroom. The doors close promptly at 8:00AM, to avoid interruption of the class schedule. If you arrive after 8:00AM, please notify the front desk, and a teacher or aide from your child’s class will come to the lobby to bring your child to class.
What are the schools hours of operation?
Regular school hours 8:00 AM thru 2:00 PM
Administrative hours 7:30 AM thru 3:30 PM
How do I schedule an observation of my child’s class?
Contact Dr. Manny at (954)262-7106 to set up an observation. Advise him of the specific activity you would like to see (i.e. Independent work, meal time, circle time, teacher time, etc.), so that the time of your visit will coincide with that event on your child’s schedule, and the class can be arranged in a manner that will give you an optimal view of your child. Please contact Dr. Manny at least a week in advance of your desired observation date.
What items are prohibited at school?
Due to choking hazard, whole grapes, raisins, hard candy, popcorn, hot dogs, non-pitted fruit such as cherries, nuts of any type, and latex balloons are prohibited at school. Additionally, due to the prevalence of severe peanut allergies, anything containing peanuts, including peanut butter is not permitted. Finally, it is the schools policy to allow only manufacturer sealed drinks. If your child has a favorite cup he or she prefers to drink from, provide one to your child’s teacher, and she will fill it as necessary.
Is aftercare available at school?
No. However, several after school activities are offered through the Family Center for you childrens enrichment. If your child is signed up for an activity, the Baudhuin staff will happily transition your child to his or her activity for you. You can then pick up your child when there extracurricular classes are over. We are in the process of putting together a list of all the activities that are available. We will post them as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Where and when are meetings and workshops held?
Meetings, support groups, and workshops are held in the classrooms located on the second floor of the Baudhuin preschool. Dates and times are updated regularly on the monthly calendar. Copies of this calendar are backpacked once a month. For an immediate view of this month’s events click here here, or go to calendar on the main menu.
